State of the Art

Hello there, I'm Marcelo Nunes, a Portuguese student at Instituto Superior Técnico. Almost finishing his Masters on Software Engineering, currently writing his Thesis on the subject of Virtual Reality and Alzheimer Disease.

For the last three year's I have started my professional career, as a Backend Developer! Started learning Portuguese Guitar four months ago. And lately, I have been enjoying some nice Matcha tea!

Hopefully, you are expecting some awful writing skills... so... where to go... what to say...

The idea of the blog comes from a Game Development Class which required us to create a blog. The objective was to share the progress of the development of the game we were developing. Every week, each one of us would write a blog post and put in words what we developed, discussed, planned and felt.

Have to admit at first I didn't expect to enjoy this experience. It was a tedious task and had to spend a few hours translating from my machine code to a humanly understandable language... Soon enough, it turned around to become fun and productive. It was noticeable to me that it helped me keep focused and organised.

Even though there were some days I almost forgot about the post... But PLEASE! Let's not tell anybody...

Once writing, I would spend 2 to 3 hours thinking and backtracing the week and I wouldn't mind spending more time if needed. Those hours I spent writing the post felt like meditation, helped me review the week and decide how to improve/prepare the next. But it also served as a motivator, since I was no longer developing this game "just for a class"... I was developing and sharing our process of thought.

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't."
            - Eleanor Roosevelt

Now, this is a completely new field for me! So I don't know how long this new adventure will keep going and what will eventually become of it. But for now, my objective is to share a little bit of my life, objectives and my hobbies. Aaand have some... fun! Yeah. Fun!

There are some hot topics that I want to speak about and I plan to divide these blog posts. I want to share with you my points of view, experiences, life objectives and big plans for my life.

But I don't want to keep it as a tedious autobiography about my life... So I want to use this blog as a space to put my thoughts on some of my areas of interest such as gaming, programming, anime, music, literature, politics, psychology and anything else that comes to my mind!

For now, I will keep you posted on Sundays and once in a while make a post about subjects important enough for me to be written down.

Tuning off for now!
